TCPtune

A TCP stack tuner for Windows

This code was written for research purposes in 1999 it only works on win98 first edition and a single version of windows NT. It will probably not work properly for you as it has not been maintained. There are a number of commercially/publicly available packages that now allow you to do the same thing. As such there was no research benefit to maintaining this software to support the newer versions of TCP (such as win98 se, 2000, etc)

General Info

  • This application currently only supports win98/NT/95.
  • The way this works is it modifies the TCP configuration parameters in your registry and when you reboot, TCP loads those parameters.
  • Download v1.1.1 (EXE) (win98/NT/95)
  • Download v1.1 (EXE) (win98/NT/95)
  • Download v1.0 (EXE) (win98 only)

Technical Info

Other Useful Applications

  • TCP_info is a program to query your TCP stack for a couple of your current configuration parameters. Unfortunately SO_RECVBUF and SO_SNDBUF aren't accurate under windows 98 as to the current config of the system, but it does tell you some interesting things about your TCP stack. (ZIP)
  • Hans-Werner's basic throughput tests have been ported to Windows, unfortunatly actcli only modifies the sender window size which unfortunatly doesn't seem to be a hard limit under win98 and therefore makes this somewhat useless in that direction. However I would recommend running actsrv under win98 and then running actcli on a unix box. (ZIP)
